Audio Hijack and DJay Pro AI combo only works on Macs.
Download Audio Hijack and install on your Mac. Note: there are additional setup steps for Apple silicon Macs.
Purchase a Audio Hijack license. Audio Hijack is a one time purchase of $64.
Download DJay Pro AI and install on your Mac. Note: DJay Pro AI offers a free version that can be used for broadcasting. These instructions are written to use the free version, but it is recommended to purchase a license which it $49.99 per year.
Load the provided Audio Hijack presets. The session captures audio and metadata from DJay Pro AI and broadcasts the transmission to Radio.co. The Audio Hijack session also has a button for turning the mic on and off as well as monitoring the broadcast.
If you are not using the Mac's onboard mic, you will need to change this input in Audio Hijack. Click the "Input Device" tile. In the Audio Device dropdown, select the correct mic. Note: you may need to change the mic levels in your Mac system preferences. The mic volume can be found in the "Sound" settings and the Input tab.
Change the settings in DJay Pro by visiting "DJay Pro AI > Settings...". In the "General Tab" adjust the settings to match image below.
Start both Audio Hijack and DJay Pro AI apps. You will be toggling between them both. In Audio Hijack be sure to have the "DJay Pro Broadcast" session open. If you can't find this session window, click "Window > Session List" in the top navigation bar.
Load a track into Deck 1 in DJay Pro AI from your Library or Tidal. To load a track, click / drag / drop the track onto a deck. If the track has loaded you will see the title and waveform.
To start a broadcast, in Audio Hijack click the "Run" button at the bottom left of the "DJay Pro Broadcast" session window.
When the "Broadcast" Tile in the session window says "On Air," play the track you loaded in DJay Pro AI by hitting the "Play" button for the loaded deck. Note: to ensure the track is broadcasting, switch back to Audio Hijack and see if the VU Meter title is moving.
Add instructions for how to listen and preview
Load another track in the other deck in DJay Pro AI. When the currently playing track ends, hit the "Play" button for the new track.
To turn off the mic, click the toggle switch at the top right again. It will be labeled 'off'.
Return to DJay Pro AI to launch a new track. Note: this takes practice to coordinate between 2 apps. With practice, it gets a lot easier.
When it is time to end your show, let the final track finish playing. In Audio Hijack, click the "Stop" button at the bottom right of the session window.
Immediately following your show, click the down carat (▿) where the library icons (Apple Music, Tidal, etc) are at the left side of the library.
Click the Orange Clock icon and you’ll see a “share” button (rectangle with an up arrow) in the row to the right of “Current Session”. Export a CSV file.
Open the CSV file in the Numbers app. Move artist column to left. Select both Artist and Title columns and copy into Text Edit as plain text. Delete extra spaces.
Post to the #playlists channel in Discord very soon after you complete a show
To use the mic, return to Audio Hijack. Click the "Mic" tile to open it. To turn on the mic click the toggle switch at the top right of the tile to turn it on. When the mic is off, the toggle will say "Off" and when the mic is on the toggle will say "On". Note: to adjust the volume of your mic, visit your Mac system preferences, click the "Sound" tab, click the "Input" tab, and select the mic you are using. Use the slider to adjust your mic volume. The meter should just touch the top bar when you are speaking.
Artist and Song Titles will be separated by a tab once pasted into a plain text Text Edit file. To change the tab in to a hyphen, use Edit > Find > Find and Replace to find the tabs and replace with a hyphen with a space before and after. Each line should now be structured as “Artist - Song Title” (without quotes).
